If you have recently invested in new macYou may have noticed that you can change the size and position of the Dock on macOS. Customizing One Dock includes the ability to automatically hide and show the Dock based on the location of the cursor. This allows you to get rid of the Dock when you don’t need it and take advantage of the added screen real estate.
However, the Show/Hide Dock animation is very slow by default. This means that you will need to hold the cursor position at the bottom or side of the screen for a few milliseconds before the Dock appears. Fortunately, you can speed up the speed of the show/hide animation. However, the process is not straightforward, and you will have to rely on the Terminal app. If you are not sure how to do that, follow the steps detailed below.
Accelerate Dock animation speed with Terminal on Mac
- Launch built-in lounge application on your Mac.
- If you want to completely disable the Dock animations when they appear, copy and paste this command into Terminal: defaults type com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier -int 0 ; killall Dock. He hits Enters on your keyboard.
- Alternatively, you can speed up the animation instead of removing it entirely with this command: defaults type com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier -float 0.15 ; killall Dock. He hits Enters on your keyboard.
- If you don’t like both solutions, you can revert to the default Dock animation speed with this command: delete default settings com.apple.dock autohide-time-modifier ; killall Dock. He hits Enters on your keyboard.
As you can see, speeding up or even disabling animations in the Dock is a simple task. All you need to do is paste the relevant command into the Terminal app, and then hit the Enter button on your keyboard. This makes multitasking faster on your Mac, like the MacBook Pro (2023), since you won’t have to wait long for the Dock to appear when switching between different apps.
