The newly sworn in governor of Kano state, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has sad that his administration was determined to transform Kano into s bastion of good governance and leadership by example.
Addressing a mammoth crowd of tens of thousands of party supporters who converged on Sani Abacba Stadium in Kano Monday, Yusuf stated that education would be accorded top priority with other viable sectors to receive same
According to him, the concept of good governance entailed the commitment of leaders calling the shots in the saddle of power, adding that his government was willing to start from where the red cap government had stopped in the last eight years.
He pointed out that dissipating public funds with no justifiable premise is a misnomer, affirming that he was determined to dig into the alleged excesses of his predecessor for sanity to be” injected into the system blatantly ruined and bastadised.
He said, “We are ready to investigate how public property was misappropriated we are restoring them to their real owners make no mistake we are very serious on what we are saying.
“The issue of using thugs in causing mayhem would be revisited, those who had soiled their hands in political violence would be brought to book as price for their despicable action,” he posited.
“We are also going to investigate the issue of the political violence allegedly committed on the proddings of Alhassan Ado Doguwa for the root of the matter to be uncovered. We want justice to be ensured,” he retorted.
“Today is a great day and a defining moment in the history of Kano. What we are witnessing here is an exceptional remarkable moment; we have sent the forces that ruined the state packing and eventually reclaimed our stolen mandate,” he remarked.
On the role of the traditional institutions in a democratic setting, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, however, stated that it was pertinent for those in the saddle of power to respect and uphold the dignity of the institutions of monarchy knowing their indispensability, stressing that their fatherly guidance and wise counsel would assist the political leaders in no small measure.
The swearing in ceremony was attended by Emir’s of Kano, Bichi, Rano, Gaya and Karaye, members of the international community and eminent personalities from all walks of life.
