Mark McAdam has shared that he has been told that Unai Emery’s Aston Villa will be ‘big players’ during the 2023 summer transfer window.
The Sky reporter added that ‘various sources’ have told him that the ambition is ‘huge’ from the Aston Villa owners, Wes Edens and Nassef Sawiris, in their bid to take the club to the next level, as he told Sky Sports News (30/05/23 at 11:25 am).
On the last day of the 2022/23 season, the Midlands side secured European football when they saw off Roberto De Zerbi’s Brighton on home soil.
After over ten years away from the big time, Villa are back on the European stage and they have the perfect manager to continue their rise during these coming years.
From possibly winning a European competition to possibly getting back into the Champions League, if Villa want to do that, then Unai Emery will be key in all of that, alongside how they back him in the market – there is talk that Marco Asensio could arrive from Real Madrid on a free transfer.
“The great thing about Aston Villa is that, and the fans will love this, they believe that they can go to the next level next season,” said McAdam. “And why would you bet against him (Emery) and that team he has built?!
“One thing to monitor this summer and I have been told by various sources, connected to transfers and agents, and that is Aston Villa will be big players in the summer. The ambition is huge from the ownership.
“They will back the manager. I think they could spend some significant amount of money over the next few months to try and give Emery the platform to take the club to the next level. They could be dark horses to watch.”

It’s going to be tough, but the platforms are there for Villa to head towards the next level and reach the Champions League stage.
They have the perfect manager to do just that, he has shown more than enough since he arrived back in November, then there are the owners who are as ambition as anyone.
If the Midlands side start next season in a strong fashion, then they will be serious dark horses for a top-four finish and ending their near 30-year wait to win a trophy.
