Alasdair Gold has spoken about the work Ryan Mason has done behind-the-scenes at Tottenham Hotspur following the sacking of Antonio Conte.
The Football London journalist added that Ryan Mason has ‘improved’ the environment at Spurs and brought previously ‘neglected’ departments together, as he told his own YouTube channel.
When Antonio Conte was booted out by Daniel Levy, the Spurs chairman decided to hand the Tottenham key to his right-hand man, Cristian Stellini.
That proved to be a disastrous call because, away at St James’ Park, they were embarrassingly 5-0 down inside 20 minutes.
In truth, results and performances didn’t improve once it was Mason put in charge, with his team missing out on European football altogether on the last day of the 2022/23 Premier League season.
But despite Mason’s spell ending in that fashion, Gold made sure to share the work the 31-year-old has done in the background and what people from the inside have told him.
“Ryan Mason signed off on Sunday with the air of a man who knows what he has achieved inside Tottenham, even if it isn’t apparent on the outside,” said Gold.
“The expectation is that he probably isn’t going to get the permanent role. I think there is a feeling of that within the club. I get the sense, he knows that as well.
“There are high hopes he will be in a position to return one day to have that job. It’s a job that he dreams of.
“Everyone I have spoken to inside the club, and this is in various departments, they all say the same thing. He has put so many things in place, just in the last few weeks that will really help the next manager to kick on. It would make the transition much easier than it would have been had they taken over straight from the Antonio Conte era.
“From what I understand, he has really gone about improving the environment. Bringing departments closer together, who maybe felt neglected and not part of things before. Just getting everyone pulling in the same direction.”

As Levy, once again, makes a mess of bringing in a new coach. The fans will fear the worst.
Yes, they very much appreciate what Mason has done for the club, but they can’t give him the gig on a full-time basis.
The Englishman wants the job, but the longer Spurs take to bring in a new coach, the more names that are ruled out, then fans will fear and that’s them ending up with Mason.
