‘Missing’: Roy Keane says midfielder linked with Liverpool has 'gone off the boil’

Roy Keane has given his brutally honest verdict on Chelsea midfielder and Liverpool target Mason Mount.

Liverpool are among the clubs who are keen on signing Mason Mount from Chelsea in the summer transfer window.

90min reported this month that Liverpool are interested in securing the services of the 24-year-old England international.

The Sun have claimed that Manchester United want the midfielder.

Arsenal and Newcastle United have also been linked with Mount.

Former Manchester United star Roy Keane has said that Mount has gone off the boil and does not think that he is as good as he thought the midfielder would become.

Keane told Sky Sports about Mount, as transcribed by TBR: “He’s just gone off the boil a little bit.

“I know he can bounce back and he’s got the quality, I was raving about him a few years ago, but he has just gone missing in the last year or two – getting one or two injuries, the fact that he can’t get into this bad Chelsea team.”

Liverpool should pursue Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount

Roy Keane is one of the best midfielders of all time, and the Manchester United legend’s comments about Mason Mount cannot be dismissed.

However, we still think that Liverpool should maintain their pursuit of Mason Mount.

Mount is only 24, and just because he has not had a great season does not mean that he has become a bad player.

Under manager Jurgen Klopp at Liverpool, the England international midfielder could flourish and get back to his best.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners do need to add quality midfielders to their squad for next season and beyond, and we believe that Mount would be a good signing for the Merseyside club.
