Report: Sheffield United keen to re-sign £4.5m ace as Everton transfer decision looms

Sheffield United are keen to re-sign defender Conor Coady with his Everton future up in the air despite avoiding relegation.

Everton could let Conor Coady leave the club this summer with his former side Sheffield United now keen.

That is according to the Daily Mail, who claim that there are doubts over Coady’s future at Goodison Park.

Everton have the option to sign Coady permanently from Wolverhampton Wanderers for just £4.5million.

It’s currently unclear whether Everton will actually activate that deal though due to his role under Sean Dyche.

The 30-year-old only made six appearances under Dyche as Michael Keane and James Tarkowski – two players Dyche coached at Burnley – were preferred.

Coady did come back into the side on the final day as Everton beat Bournemouth to stay up.

Dyche must now figure out whether he actually wants to keep Coady around though, especially with money tight at Goodison Park.

Yerry Mina is on his way out this summer so Everton will need a defensive signing, which could yet be Coady on a permanent basis.

Sheffield United keen on Conor Coady

It’s stated that St Helens-born Coady wants to stay in the north of England even if Everton don’t keep him.

The report claims that Sheffield United are keen on Coady and are monitoring developments over his future.

Coady joined Sheffield United on loan from Liverpool during the 2013-14 season, bagging six goals in 50 games as a midfielder.

Coady ended up becoming a defender but the Blades are now keen to see him return to Bramall Lane.

Paul Heckingbottom plays with a back three, a system Coady is familiar with having excelled in the middle of a back three at Wolves.

United will want Premier League experience to aid their survival hopes and Coady certainly proves that aspect.

If Wolves really want to get rid and Everton aren’t keen, the route back to Sheffield United may be open for Coady this summer.
