Report: Tottenham really want to appoint 'great coach', but board can't ignore obvious red flag
It has been a reported that while Tottenham Hotspur want to appoint Xabi Alonso as their next manager, the board has a pressing concern about him.
Unfortunately for Spurs, Bayer Leverkusen CEO Simon Rolfes confirmed that the Spaniard has no intentions of leaving the club anytime soon.
However, while Tottenham Hotspur intend of appointing Xabi Alonso as their manager, they themselves are at a bit of a crossroads internally.

The former Real Madrid midfielder has enjoyed a cracking time in Germany, leading the club from relegation spots to seventh place in the Bundesliga and a spot in the Europa League semi-final.
Naturally, the 41-year-old has been lauded for his efforts, with Jeremie Frimpong branding him as a ‘great coach’, as relayed by One Football.
A report by Yahoo! Sport claims that Tottenham Hotspur remain extremely interested in appointing Xabi Alonso as their manager.
However, Spurs’ board are worried about Alonso’s lack of experience, as he has only managed one club at senior level so far.

At the end of the day, as prodigious a coach as the ex-Liverpool orchestrator may well be, the job in N17 is a challenging one.
From incorporating a missing tactical blueprint to dealing with a frugal board as well as the potential departure of Harry Kane, there are no lack of challenges that a new manager would have to face.
Xabi Alonso is yet to have faced as many hurdles as a manager that he would have to at Tottenham.
With Newcastle United’s rise as well as the club’s own failure, their status as a ‘Big Six’ club in the Premier League could soon become a thing of the past.
As a result, the hesitation is not only understandable but perhaps logical as the board cannot afford to make an error in judgement in terms of the managerial situation.
