'We're seeing the end': Journalist says 'unbelievable' 27 y/o is now bound for Tottenham exit

A claim has been made that Harry Winks looks destined for an exit from Tottenham Hotspur in the summer.

The English midfielder, who is currently on loan at Sampdoria revealed in March that not even Antonio Conte had held a chat with him about his future.

With Harry Winks’ contract set to expire in 2024, it has been claimed that an exit involving him from Tottenham Hotspur is on the cards.

The 27-year-old’s time at his boyhood club has been a mixed bag, initially being lauded for his crisp passing and impressive technical ability but eventually undergoing a decline in his displays.

Branded as ‘unbelievable’ by Jan Vertonghen, as relayed by Sports Mole, the England international’s career has not panned out as expected by many.

Now, journalist Paul Brown has said that an exit from Tottenham seems to be the likely outcome for Harry Winks.

“Winks is in a flux. He has not been able to convince a series of managers now that he deserves a starting place”, Brown told GiveMeSport.

“I’m 100% sure he wants to return and try to prove that to whoever comes in. But he’s facing an uphill battle and has a lot of people in front of him at the moment who the club have invested more money in. So, it could be that we’re seeing the end of Harry Winks at Spurs.”

HITC View: Tottenham must get rid of him in the summer

While it would have been a fairytale for Harry Winks to become a smash success at Tottenham, sanctioning his exit in the summer seems like the right time to do so.

For their upcoming manager, it would be a huge help for a chunk of the deadwood not to be at the club anymore.

While Winks’ controlling presence is an asset, he simply has not offered enough over the years to demand being given yet another chance to prove himself.

To get a fee for the player beyond this season as well is another reason why a sale should be Spurs’ priority.
