Raphael Guerreiro is set to swap Borussia Dortmund for Bundesliga rivals Bayern Munich shortly after Leeds United were linked with a move for the Portugal international.

After Dortmund choked on a dramatic final day – drawing 2-2 at home with Mainz when all they needed to do was win – Raphael Guerreiro looks set to follow in the footsteps of Mats Hummels, Mario Gotze and Robert Lewandowski, swapping Borussia for Bavaria.
The Portugal international will be a free-agent at the end of this month. By the time July arrives, however, Guerreiro is likely to have already been confirmed as a Bayern Munich player.
“Raphael Guerreiro will travel to Munich next week,” Fabrizio Romano writes on Twitter. “But documents have already been checked by his agents. Deal will be valid until 2026.
“Medical tests booked. No Atletico Madrid move, Guerreiro will play for Bayern. Here we go confirmed.”

Atletico are not the only club who showed an interest in the versatile 29-year-old.
Arsenal, Manchester City, Newcastle United and Aston Villa were all linked at one point or another over the last few months, while any hopes Leeds may have had of luring Guerreiro to Elland Road went up in smoke as soon as Harry Kane located the top corner within the first two minutes of Tottenham’s 4-1 final day victory in West Yorkshire.
A result which consigned Leeds to relegation.
“After seven amazing years, it’s time for me to say goodbye to you all with a lot of sadness,” Guerreiro said when confirming his Dortmund departure, via The Athletic.
“The memories I made here taught me a lot on myself on the pitch but also helped me a lot knowing what I really love in football.
“I have always been myself while learning and improving here. I’ll never forget the love I got from the fans and my team-mates during these seven years. I had the chance to play with some fantastic players!”
Leeds, meanwhile, are now in pursuit of a new manager after Sam Allardyce’s short-term deal expired. Steven Gerrard, in need of a fresh start after a difficult spell at Aston Villa, is emerging as a potential frontrunner.
