Hayden Christensen is ‘reluctant’ to see his daughter play Darth Vader

Years after Anakin Skywalker bid farewell to a tragic finale Star Wars: Revenge of the SithHayden Christensen finally got a chance to dive into the Darth Vader part of his character in Obi-Wan Kenobi series. For the first time, Christensen has embodied the iconic Star Wars villain, pitting him against his former master once again. Fans have always wanted to see Christensen play a fully realized version of Darth Vader, but the actor still wasn’t quite ready to show his daughter what he looked like in the mask and cape.

during a conversation with Andor Diego Luna star diverse‘s Actors over actorsChristensen said he wasn’t quite ready for his eight-year-old daughter to see him play such a creepy character.

“Make her see me in [Darth Vader outfit]? He said “Well, it hasn’t happened yet.” She’s eight now. I don’t know if I can wait any longer. I know I was dragging my feet a bit. She knows I’m in Star Wars and that I played this character, but she’s never seen her yet. I’ll get to that. I’m trying to figure out the best type of entry point.”

Luckily, Obi-Wan Kenobi It also gave Christensen the opportunity to film some scenes as Anakin, without wearing a Darth Vader costume, and was able to bring his daughter to see him film some of those scenes.

“There are some disturbing scenes that I’m reluctant to see at this age. But it was really cool to do Obi-Wan “Showing it and actually bringing it into place,” Christensen said. Not when I was in my Darth Vader costume, but we did a flashback sequence and I got to play Anakin. She could see me swinging a lightsaber with Ewan [McGregor]. She was very worried about your health. She was afraid one of us might get hurt.”

At the moment, there is no telling Obi-Wan Kenobi It will be the last time we see Hayden Christensen in a Star Wars suit.
