Tottenham Hotspur could still go for Luis Enrique despite Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou being the leading candidate to take over at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, according to Fabrizio Romano.
Italian journalist Romano has reported on Twitter that Tottenham Hotspur are still considering hiring former Barcelona boss Luis Enrique despite planning to hold talks with Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham will hold talks with Postecoglou in the beginning of next week, but they have discussed internally the prospect of bringing in Luis Enrique, according to the journalist.
Romano wrote: “Tottenham have scheduled new round of talks with Ange Postecoglou at the beginning if next week — he remains leading candidate. #THFC
“Nothing done/agreed yet as Spurs also discussed Luis Enrique again internally this week.”
Luis Enrique or Ange Postecoglou for Tottenham Hotspur?
In our view, Tottenham Hotspur should seriously consider appointing Luis Enrique as their manager ahead of Celtic boss Ange Postecoglou.
Postecoglou is a very good manager who could win the domestic treble with Celtic.
And the way the Australian plays his football is very entertaining and would go down well with the Tottenham fans.
However, Luis Enrique has a better CV and is more experienced in European football.
After all, the Spaniard won multiple major trophies, both as a player and as a manger.
As a player, the 53-year-old won the La Liga title once with Real Madrid and twice with Barcelona.
As a manager, Luis Enrique won the La Liga title twice with Barcelona and the UEFA Champions League once with the Blaugrana.
Having worked at Barcelona, AS Roma and the Spain national football team, the 53-year-old is used to managing top-class players and would also able to attract quality footballers in the transfer market.
