‘Key hours ahead’: Fabrizio Romano has exciting Chelsea transfer update on £52m player

Fabrizio Romano has reported on Twitter that Chelsea are going to get in contact again today regarding signing Sporting Lisbon defensive midfielder Manuel Ugarte.

The Italian journalist has claimed that Chelsea are interested in signing Manuel Ugarte from Sporting Lisbon in the summer transfer window.

The former Premier League and UEFA Champions League winners reportedly believe that the deal to sign the 22-year-old Uruguay international defensive midfielder is at an advanced stage.

However, Chelsea are not getting complacent and are aware of the threat that Paris Saint-Germain pose regarding the €60 million (£52 million) player.

Romano wrote on Twitter (7:33am, June 4, 2023): “More contacts are expected today for Manuel Ugarte deal, involving also Jorge Mendes.  #CFC

“Chelsea consider deal now at ‘advanced stage’ for €60m fee — but not done or sealed yet, being still careful with PSG around until documents are signed.

“Key hours ahead.”

Exciting Manuel Ugarte update for Chelsea fans

In our view, Chelsea fans will be hugely delighted by the morning update from Fabrizio Romano on Manuel Ugarte.

Romano is one of the best transfer insiders around, and the Italian journalist claiming that there will be more contact today suggests that Chelsea are really determined to sign the 22-year-old in the summer transfer window.

Liverpool have also been linked with Ugarte, and with PSG lurking, time is of the essence for Chelsea.

And it seems that the London club are aware of that and want to get a deal wrapped up for the youngster – described as “a genius” by his Sporting teammate Pedro Goncalves on Instagram – as soon as possible.
