NBC‘s popular show Meet The Press has been going on for a long time Chuck Todd managed to impress the viewers with his glass-cutting questions that pushed world leaders to answer promptly.
However, on June 4, it was announced that he will be leaving the show forever and will be replaced by Kristen.
Who is Kristen Welker?
Kristen is the co-anchor of Weekend Today and NBC News White House Correspondent. She joined the Weekend Today segment in 2020 and was even chosen to be the moderator for the presidential debate between Donald Trump and Joe Biden 2020. At the same time, she was also a key player during Hillary Clinton‘s election.
She has also shown her talent during the White House press briefings by asking hard-hitting questions to bring light to issues that need urgent addressing.
As per reports, in 2011, she started covering the White House for NBC News and traveled alongside then-President Barack Obama and then-First Lady, Michelle Obama.
Chuck Todd is stepping down
Chuck will now be taking a new role as a chief political analyst for the channel and will be sharing his insights.
Speaking about his departure, he said: “It’s been an amazing nearly decadelong run. I am really proud of what this team and I have built over the last decade. I’ve loved so much of this job, helping to explain America to Washington and explain Washington to America.”
He continued: “When I took over ‘Meet the Press,’ it was a Sunday show that had a lot of people questioning whether it still could have a place in the modern media space. Well, I think we’ve answered that question and then some.”

Meet The Press is the longest-running American show and even celebrated its 75th-anniversary last year.
NBC News’ president of editorial, Rebecca Blumenstein, and NBC News senior vice president of politics, Carrie Budoff Brown also remarked on the show’s importance.
They said: “Meet the Press’ has sustained its historic role as the indispensable news program on Sunday mornings. Through his penetrating interviews with many of the most important newsmakers, the show has played an essential role in politics and policy, routinely made front-page news, and framed the thinking in Washington and beyond.”
