Clinton Morrison says he ‘doesn’t get’ why Liverpool transfer target Ruben Neves has decided to make a transfer switch from Wolves to Saudi Arabia.
The former Premier League striker added that Ruben Neves ‘might regret it’, but he understands the call because ‘money talks’ in football, as he told The Transfer Show on Sky Sports.
Many expected the 26-year-old to leave Wolves this summer, but perhaps to a team in Europe, with Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool showing interest in the player this summer.
There was even talk of Barcelona for a brief period, but clearly, nothing materialised on that front.
Despite that, Neves hasn’t decided to stay in the Premier League or in Europe, and instead, he is close to joining Saudi Arabian side Al Hilal for £47 million, as reported by BBC Sport.
That has left Morrison surprised because, the majority of the players that are heading to Saudi are over 30, and not at the peak of their powers like Neves.
“I don’t get the Ruben Neves one,” said Morrison. “Not now. I think he is a bright talent. I thought he was excellent for Wolves, he might regret it, but at the end of the day, money talks in football.
“If you are earning that amount of money, come the end of your career, then you might be happy.”

Alexis Mac Allister is through the doors and the 2022 World Cup winner is going to elevate and energise a midfielder that has lost its might and hard-hitting style during the past 12 months.
But the Argentine star surely can’t be the only midfielder to walk through the club’s doors this summer? It seems as though the Reds are looking, with suggestions that they should push for Manu Kone and Khephren Thuram.
If they can get both, then it would be a massive tick in the box, but if Liverpool had to pick, then they should secure Kone’s talents because he is better without the ball, aggressive in a tackle and he gets the best out of players around him.
