‘Soon’: Club really want to sell £43m player to Arsenal, bid made – Sky reporter

Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are in talks with Ajax over Jurrien Timber, according to a report.
Sky Germany journalist Florian Plettenberg has reported on Twitter that Arsenal are interested in signing Jurrien Timber from Ajax in the summer transfer window.
The reporter has claimed that Arsenal’s opening bid of €35 million (£29.92 million) for Timber has been turned down, with Ajax looking for €50 million (£42.74 million) for the right-back.
Plettenberg has added that Ajax want to find an agreement over a deal “soon” and are open to selling the 22-year-old, who can also operate as a centre-back, to Arsenal.
Arsenal fans should be optimistic about Jurrien Timber deal
Now, it is quite normal for clubs to reject the first offers they get for their payers.
So, Arsenal fans need not be too concerned that Ajax have rejected the Gunners’ first bid for Jurrien Timber.
What is crucial in Plettenberg’s tweet is that Ajax will sell the Netherlands international to Arsenal if they get the transfer fee that they want.
So, all Arsenal need to do is make a new offer and satisfy Ajax’s demands.
The Dutch club are reportedly ready to sell Timber to Arsenal, and that is very encouraging indeed.
