'Very good signing': Collymore backs 'flexible' midfielder to secure Aston Villa transfer

Stan Collymore has backed Aston Villa’s planned move to sign Youri Tielemans when his Leicester City contract expires at the end of June.
The 26-year-old was relegated with Leicester City on the final day of the 22/23 Premier League season and now he is on the look out for a new club.
It has been known for a while that Youri Tielemans would leave on a free transfer, with Collymore posting on Twitter that he is at a ‘perfect age’ for Unai Emery’s Aston Villa and he is someone who he ‘likes a lot’.
“He’d be a very good signing,” said Collymore. “Experienced international, flexible ( can hold and get forward), the perfect age, wouldn’t have to relocate, plenty still to prove. Mild concerns over injury, but nothing major. Like him a lot.”
The good news for Villa fans is that there is interest in Tielemans and he is a player that Unai Emery admires.
It’s now just a case of what offers are on the table for the technically gifted midfielder, who when on the top of his game, is one of the best players in the league in his position.
The only issue with that is Tielemans hasn’t been able to showcase that form during the past few months and he has deserved to be a part of a team that suffered relegation.

Tielemans would improve Aston Villa on the ball
The more comfortable Aston Villa get under Emery, the more they try to become a possession-based team.
If someone like Tielemans signs, then he adds more control to Villa’s game, he perhaps becomes the club’s best passer of the ball and he provides that long-range shooting magic.
The only question Villa have to ask themselves is, which Tielemans will turn up? The one that fired the Foxes to the FA Cup, or the one that was half asleep as they suffered relegation?
