Julianne Alexandra Hough, 33, was born on July 20, 1988, in Orem, Utah. She hails from a family of five Mormons. Her parents are Marianne and Bruce Hough, and her father was twice the chairman of the Utah Republican Party.
Her brother, Derek Hough, is a professional dancer as well. Her older sisters are Sharee, Marabeth, and Katherine. All four of Hough’s grandmothers danced. Riker, Rydel, Rocky, and Ross Lynch are second cousins, and their maternal grandmothers are sisters.
Hough and her brother studied song, theater, gymnastics, and a variety of dance disciplines, including jazz, ballet, and tap, at the Italia Conti Academy of Theatre Arts.
When Hough was 12, the three kids established 2B1G (“2 Boys, 1 Girl”), a pop music group. They competed in dance competitions in both the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as appeared on a British television show.
