I create relationships with artistes before shooting videos – Unlimited LA

A popular music video director, Olalekan Buari, aka unlimited LA, has said that he usually cultivates relationships with artistes before working on their videos.

In an interview with Saturday Beats, he said, “I create a relationship with the artiste before shooting their videos. Some artistes usually have visions of how they want their videos to go, while some don’t. For the ones that have ideas, I listen to them and develop on the ideas. And, for the ones that don’t, I listen to the song and develop an idea for the video.”

Speaking on the most challenging aspect of directing music videos, he said, “The most challenging part is the execution. One can have great ideas but executing it is another thing. It takes years of experience to achieve such, because at times, one could be on set, and some unseen circumstances could pop up, and if one does not have experience, one might panic. On my part, the years of experience I have help me to overcome these challenges.”

Unlimited LA also stated that aside from being a music video director, he is also a cinematographer, as he has shot films and TV commercials as well.

Asked to advise aspiring music video directors, the cinematographer said, “My advice to them is that they should creative and consistent.”
