The Nasarawa state police command has confirmed the kidnap of the emir of Gurku , Jubril Mohammed, and his wife from his palace in Gurku in Karu local government area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), DSP Ramhan Nansel, confirmed this to newsmen in Lafia Monday.
He said effort is ongoing to rescued the chief and his wife unhurt.
Nansel said on August 6, 2023, the Nasarawa state Police command received a distress call that the palace of Gurku town located ten kilometers from Mararaba main town in Karu local government area of the state was invaded by men suspected to be kidnappers.
“Upon receipt of the information, the Nasarawa state commissioner of Police, CP Maiyaki Mohammed-Baba, deployed a combined team of police operatives in collaboration with the vigilante group to the scene.
“Upon arrival, it was discovered that the chief and his wife were abducted to an unknown destination,” he stated.
He said the surrounding bushes and mountains were combed but all efforts to get them were fruitless.
