Taraba Assembly approves N206.7bn loan for Gov Kefas

Taraba state House of Assembly on Friday approved the sum of N206, 776, 000, 000, 00 for Governor Agbu Kefas from four commercial banks for the services of the state.

The speaker of the House, Kizito Bonzina, in his remarks, said one of the cardinal points of the present administration “is to entrench good governance and improve the livelihoods of the people.”

According to him, the administration of Governor Agbu Kefas “is desirous of providing massive infrastructure development across the state as well as payment of outstanding gratuities to retirees.”

“Honourable members, the executive council resolved to accept loan facilities to the total tune of N206, 776, 000, 00 from four banks. The banks are: Zenith N83.3 billion; UBA N50 billion; Fidelity Bank N50 billion and Keystone Bank N23. 476 billion,” he said.

He added, “Honourable members, for the avoidance of doubt, the facility, if secured by the state government, the funds shall be channelled to developing the following critical sectors of the state: Education (N50 billion); agriculture (N30 billion); health (N30 billion); security (N30 billion); infrastructure development (N40 billion); micro- finance bank (N5 billion); House of Assembly (N5 billion); judiciary (N5 billion); women affairs (N2 billion); digital economy (N2 billion); waste management (N2 billion) and other sectors (N5.476 billion.”
