Kebbi: Immigration hands over trafficked teenager to NAPTIP

The Nigerian Immigration Service(NIS), Kebbi state command, has handed over a 22-year-old suspected victim of human trafficking to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons n(NAPTIP).

The State Comptroller of Immigration, Mrs Rabi Bashir Nuhu, handed over the girl to Kebbi State Commander of NAPTIP at the headquarters of the Service in Birnin Kebbi.

She explained that the victim from Kwara state was intercepted in Kebbi, while traveling to Libya en route Sokoto state by Immigration border personnel in Yauri local government area.

Mrs. Rabi Nuhu added that between February 2022 to date, the Service had intercepted and handed over 53 Libya-bound victims of trafficking to NAPTIP.

The victim, who is a female and aged 22, was promised domestic job in Libya and has no travelling documents, including visa and passport.

Receiving the girl, Kebbi NAPTIP Commander, Mr. Misbahu Kaura, said the agency would undertake thorough investigation of the matter and thanked the Immigration Service for making their job easier.

He commended the Service for its collaboration with NAPTIP in the fight against human trafficking in the country.
