10 Major Events Futurama Reveals Happened During Its 1000-Year Time Jump

As the name suggests, Futurama is set in the future, specifically 1,000 years ahead, which means that the show has a huge amount of fictional history that has only ever been hinted at throughout the series. The closest the show comes to showing this stretch of time is a time-lapsed glimpse out of the window as Fry is cryogenically frozen in the Futurama pilot. Similar time lapses are shown in subsequent episodes, such as Futurama season 6, episode 7, "The Late Philip J. Fry," and season 8, episode 6, "I Know What You Did Next Xmas."
