Though it was a vibrant and original addition to Netflix's massive library of shows, Julie and the Phantoms season 2 never materialized and the series was canceled after only one season. The musical comedy-drama television series was based on the Brazilian show Julie e os Fantasmas and was created by Dan Cross and David Hoge and executive produced by Kenny Ortega, who had previously signed a multi-year deal with Netflix. Additionally, Ortega directed a majority of the nine episodes in season 1, which premiered on September 10, 2020.
