Senator Challenges Akpabio Over Passing of Bill Without Carrying Lawmakers Along

A video circulating on social media shows a senator challenging Senate President Godswill Akpabio for adopting measures swiftly without proper study.

In the video, Senator Mohammed Ali Ndume of Borno South chastised Akpabio for passing measures without informing members of the Red Chamber.

Ndume believes senators should be informed in advance so they can prepare to discuss bills before they become law.

The chief whip of the 10th Senate insisted on the presence of two-thirds of the senators before bills could be passed.

He stated that some bills dealing with money are quickly passed within two hours.

Akpabio was warned by the senator that history would judge him if he continues leading the senate that way.

He said, “We have been ambushed all the time that sensitive bills are brought and are expected to be passed with the speed of light.”

In response to the Senators’ comments, Akpabio stated that Nigerians and history will remember him for good since the measures are enacted quickly for the sake of the country.
