Why I abandoned dream of becoming pilot for acting – MC Reality

An actor and skit maker, Abiola Olorunyomi, aka MC Reality, has said he left his dream of becoming a pilot for acting because his love for movies is very strong.

In a statement made available to Saturday Beats, Olorunyomi said, “During my secondary days, my plan and aim was to become a pilot, but right now, I have no regrets switching gears to acting. I don’t even think I would have made such a success of my life as a pilot as I have done as an actor.

“I grew up watching Nigerian movies. It was a big motivation to me and I was inspired by Mr John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu. So, my friends and I created a group called Sirbalo Comedy. Since we didn’t have the financial support to produce long movies, we decided to do skits. When we initially started, it was very challenging, but so far, God has been faithful.”

Speaking on how he changed his name from MC Jazzeno to MC Reality and how skit-making has helped him, he said, “When I was in secondary school, I was using the name ‘MC Jazzeno’ as my stage name, until one of my classmates called me ‘MC Reality’ because of my realistic jokes. I am a very shy and quiet person when I am not on stage or location shooting.

“Skits-making changed my life and I’m so happy I’m living my dream. I cannot consider ever going back to being a pilot because skit-making has been a blessing to me. It has given me money, fame and recognition.”

He also spoke on his career journey, saying, “I am a comedian, director, producer and actor. My comedy career started officially in 2015, although I first began as a stand-up comedian in 2011 and later became a content creator. I am an indigene of Owan West Local Government Area of Edo State and a graduate of Lagos State University.”
