The striker sustained the injury during Norway’s 2-0 win over Faroe Islands on Thursday, despite staying the entire length of the match.
The 23-year-old now faces a race against time to get back to fitness for the pivotal Manchester City-Liverpool clash next Saturday.
It is the second time this month the City striker has been forced to limp off due to twisting his ankle – the first incident occurred on November 4 against Bournemouth.
Norway’s team doctor, Ola Sand, has given positive feedback by stating that the issue is not a serious one.
“It was much of the same that happened against Bournemouth a week-and-a-half ago.” he said. “He has had it before too.”
“He gets a slight twist in his ankle, where he is a bit vulnerable. It hurts a lot right away, and then it goes away pretty quickly. Then we’ll see tomorrow how he is then.”
