Promotion of healthcare service necessary for Nigerians – Prof Abugu

The Director General, Institute of Medical and Health Law (IMHL), Professor Uwakwe Abugu, has advocated for intensive promotion of healthcare delivery services for Nigerians.

Prof Abugu made this call at a press briefing in Abuja, Tuesday, ahead of the National Medical and Health Law Conference, being organised by IMHL slated for Tuesday, November 21, 2023 with the theme: “Maintaining optimal mental health in a distressed socio-political economy,” at the Merit House, Maitama, Abuja.

He informed newsmen that the Minister of State for Education, Dr. Tanko Sununu will be the keynote speaker, while the conference will be chaired by Senator Ibrahim Yahaya Oloriegbe.

According to Prof. Abugu, the major highlight of the conference will be the induction of student members, associates, full members, associate fellows and fellows of the institute, adding that there will be conferment and induction of Honorary Fellowship on some distinguished Nigerians such as Prof. Mike A. A. Ozekhome, SAN, in recognition of his giant strides in constitutional law.

“Our indepth assessment revealed his track record at the NMA (FCT and national) in private medical practice and at the National Hospital and in Public Service generally as intriguingly benevolent and amazingly mesmeric,” he said.
