Messi, Mbappe, Haaland in a battle for FIFA Best Men’s Player award

The winners will be announced on January 15 in London

The finalists for the FIFA 2023 Best Men’s Player award were announced by world soccer’s governing body on Thursday, featuring Lionel Messi, Kylian Mbappe, and Erling Haaland.

Erling Haaland played a crucial role in Manchester City’s triumphant season, securing major trophies such as the Champions League, English Premier League, and FA Cup.

Lionel Messi, the winner of the 2022 award, led Argentina to World Cup victory before claiming the Ligue 1 title with Paris St Germain alongside Kylian Mbappe. Subsequently, Messi made a move to the Major League Soccer team Inter Miami.

In the women’s best player category, the shortlist includes two 2023 World Cup champions, Aitana Bonmati and Jennifer Hermoso from Spain, along with Linda Caicedo, who represents Colombia.

The winners of these prestigious awards will be unveiled on January 15 in London, England.
