A 29-year-old driver Mallam Suleiman Rabiu has said he trekked from Gombe State to Abuja in appreciation of the leadership qualities of the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Gwabin Musa and the improvement of the security situation in the country under his leadership of the Armed Forces.

Rabiu who left Gombe State on 12 arrived in Abuja on Wednesday 28 February after spending 16 days on the road. He was received on behalf of CDS Musa by the Acting Director of Defence Information, Brigadier General Tukur Gusau, Assistant Director of Defence Headquarters Provost, Major Nneka Olima and the Special Assistant to the CDS, Alhaji Hashim Hussaini.

Speaking at the Army Headquarters, Abuja, Rabiu said he chose to undertake the journey despite the unfriendly weather conditions and the risk involved to show his appreciation for the admirable leadership qualities of the CDS.

“He maintained that his action is a testimony to the improved security enjoyed in the country. He added that before now, it is almost impossible to have embarked on such a journey without encountering any hazard occasioned by insecurity in the North East.”
