Aradel Holdings Lifts NASD OTC Bourse by 2.64%

The NASD Over-the-Counter (OTC) Securities Exchange rebounded by 2.64 per cent on Thursday following the price appreciation reported by Aradel Holdings Plc.

The energy firm chalked up N170 during the trading session to settle at N1,870.00 per share, in contrast to the N1,700.00 per share it traded a day earlier.

The improvement in the share price of the company moved the market capitalisation of the bourse higher by N36.93 billion at the close of transactions to N1.434 trillion from the N1.397 trillion it quoted in the midweek session.

In the same vein, the NASD Unlisted Security Index (NSI) increased by 26.96 points yesterday to end the day at 1,047.56 points compared with 1,020.60 points of the preceding trading session.

However, the volume of securities traded at the bourse on Thursday by the market participants went down by 76.9 per cent as 75,130 units were traded versus the 325,366 units transacted the preceding session.

Conversely, the value of shares traded surged by 1,200 per cent to N56.2 million from the N4.3 million quoted in the last trading day, and the number of deals went up by 100.00 per cent to 20 deals from the 10 deals carried out on Wednesday.

When trading activities closed for the day, Capital Hotels Plc was the most active stock by volume on a year-to-date basis with a turnover of 228.6 million valued at N1.1 billion, IPWA Plc occupied the second position with the sale of 79.9 million units for N40.0 million, and Mixta Real Estate Plc remained in the third spot with a turnover of 69.9 million units worth N114.6 million.

Also, Aradel Holdings Plc closed the trading day as the most active stock by value on a year-to-date basis with the sale of 3.5 million units for N7.0 billion, closely followed by Central Securities Clearing System (CSCS) Plc with a turnover of 45.2 million units valued at N1.3 billion, and Capital Hotels Plc with the sale of 228.6 million worth N1.1 billion.
