DJ Quik and Problem Set to Reunite for New Album “Chupacabra”

DJ Quik and Problem, two West Coast rap legends hailing from different eras, are joining forces once again for an exciting new project. The dynamic duo, known for their previous collaboration on the 2017 release “Rosecrans,” have announced plans for a brand new album titled “Chupacabra.” This news has sparked anticipation among fans eager to witness the chemistry between these two talented artists once more.

While DJ Quik represents the iconic G-funk era of the 1990s, Problem gained prominence in the 2010s with his captivating guest verses and distinct style. Despite their different backgrounds, Quik’s prowess as a producer and rapper, combined with Problem’s lyricism and delivery, create a compelling synergy that resonates with audiences.

The announcement of “Chupacabra” came on Friday, April 19, although a specific release date for the album has yet to be revealed. However, fans were treated to a taste of what’s to come with the release of a new single titled “Workout.” Featuring guest verses from West Coast luminary Rodney-O and an appearance by Lil Jon, the track exudes a nostalgic vibe while delivering messages of self-improvement and personal style.

In a previous interview with Red Bull Academy, Problem reflected on his collaboration with DJ Quik on “Rosecrans” and expressed admiration for Quik’s contribution to the project. He highlighted Quik’s sense of being undervalued in the industry, emphasizing the importance of acknowledging and preserving the legacy of influential artists like Quik.

In addition to their upcoming album, both DJ Quik and Problem have busy schedules planned for 2024. DJ Quik is set to join Snoop Dogg’s “Cali to Canada” tour as an opener, where he will share the stage with Warren G, showcasing his talent to audiences across various cities. Meanwhile, Problem has been actively releasing music, with two studio albums, “I Owe Myself” and “A Compton Story,” already under his belt in 2023 alone.

As anticipation builds for “Chupacabra” and fans eagerly await its release, it’s clear that DJ Quik and Problem are poised to make a significant impact with their latest collaboration. With their combined expertise and unique artistic styles, the album is sure to captivate listeners and solidify their status as influential figures in West Coast hip-hop.
