Gov appoints new commandant for Zamfara security outfit

Governor Dauda Lawal of Zamfara State has approved the appointment of Major Maikano Adamu (retd.) as the Acting commandant of the Zamfara State Community Protection Guards.

In a statement on Thursday, the state Commissioner for Information, Munnir Haidara, said the appointment was with immediate effect.

“The appointment of the acting CPG Commandant is a result of the recent suspension of Col. Rabiu Garba Yandoto (retd.) by the state government,” the statement read.

Before his appointment, the new state-acting Commandant, Adamu, was the immediate Deputy Commandant.

The former CPG Commandant was suspended on Wednesday following his utterances where he accused the state government of poor funding of the outfit.
