PRESIDENT Bola Tinubu has expressed his profound sympathies to the families of the victims of a fire caused by an articulated vehicle transporting petroleum products on the Eleme section of the East-West Road in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
Five people died in the Friday night accident, which also destroyed dozens of vehicles and shattered goods worth billions.
President Tinubu expressed his condolences to the government and people of Rivers State over the tragedy and prayed for the rapid recovery of those injured.
Tinubu’s condolence message was sent today in a statement signed by his media aide, Ajuri Ngelale.
The President directed federal agencies in the state to continue working with the state administration to give critical emergency assistance to all victims of the disaster.
The President lauded the first responders in Rivers State for their bravery and dedication to assisting those affected by the catastrophe.
He also expressed optimism that stricter safety measures for the transportation of petroleum products will be established to avoid such catastrophes.
