Abia PDP Future Uncertain As Gale Of Defection Hit Party

There is mounting fear that the implosion that has hit the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), in Abia might signal its end.

The recent defection was preceded earlier by that of the former Chief of Staff to immediate past Governor Okezie Ikpeazu, Prof Anthony Agbazuere, the former Commissioner for Information, Mr Eze Chikamnayo and the former member that represented Umuahia South LGA, Jerry Uzosike.

Since then the PDP in Abia State has seen an unprecedented defection by those considered the stalwarts and diehards of the party. From party officials to former political office holders, the list is frightening.

The recent decampees include former Speaker and son of former Governor, Senator Theodore Orji, former Chief of Staff, Commissioner and member that represented Bende North, State Constituency, Cosmos Ndukwe, former member representing Osisioma, Ikechukwu Nwabeke, deputy governorship candidate, Jasper Uche and NURTW, chairman, Eze Job.

Others are, chairman of the party in former Governor Ikpeazu’s Obingwa Local Government Area, Hon Foy Eze Walton, ex-Ohafia Council boss, Okorafor Ukiwe and former Isiala Ngwa South Council boss and former Commissioner for Youth, Ike Anyatonwu. Also, former House of Assembly majority leader and member that represented Umunneochi State Constituency, Prince Ikedi Ezekwesiri.

Interestingly, while some of them, like the former Speaker, Chinedum Orji, declared for the ruling APC, others are silent over their next move.
