BENUE: Bandits kill three farmers

BANDITS reportedly killed three villagers who were working on their farms in the Ogbaulu community of Agatu Local Government Area in Benue State.

According to a local source who spoke to newsmen, the victims were attacked while working on their separate farms yesterday afternoon.

The Chairman of Agatu LGA, Yakubu Ochepo, confirmed the attack, stating that the perpetrators came from the neighboring Apa LGA and brutally murdered the victims.

The incident, which happened yesterday, happened to two of the  deceased individuals who are from Agatu and one from Apa LGA.

The Agatu and Apa Agatu LGAs have been heavily impacted by bandit attacks recently.

The paramount ruler of the Idoma nation, His Royal Majesty, the Och’Idoma, Dr. John Eliagwu Odogbo, expressed his condemnation of the ongoing attacks in Agatu and surrounding areas.

He called for a swift investigation by the Police and local vigilantes to apprehend the culprits responsible for the heinous crime.

Efforts to reach the Police Public Relations Office for a statement on the incident in Agatu were unsuccessful.

In a separate incident in April, bandits killed 26 people in different attacks on three communities in the Gwer West Local Government Area, including security personnel deployed to provide protection during a burial ceremony.
