The club confirmed in a statement that Xavi has been relieved of his duties and will leave the Nou Camp after Sunday’s final match of the season against Sevilla.

Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano reports that Hansi Flick is set to be confirmed as the club’s new head coach next week.

The German has signed a two-year deal and will bring in two of his compatriots as part of his coaching staff.

Former Bayern Munich boss Flick has been out of work since leaving his role as Germany manager in September.

He has also been linked with replacing Mauricio Pochettino at Chelsea in recent weeks.

Xavi is said to have been informed of the decision on Friday after president Joan Laporta visited the club’s training ground.

It comes after a dramatic few months for the former Spain midfielder.

The 44-year-old had announced in January that he would be leaving at the end of the season following a defeat to Villarreal.

His side sat 10 points off LaLiga leaders Real Madrid in third place after the loss.

However, he went on to U-turn on the decision last month after being convinced by the club to stay.

Barcelona announced he would remain in charge until the summer of 2025.

But Xavi, who has been publicly outspoken about Barcelona’s financial woes is now on his way out.

The club legend returned to Barcelona in November 2021.

He won a league title and the Spanish Super Cup during his tenure.

Barca will also end this season in second place behind their El Clasico rivals Real.

Xavi also spent 24 years at the club as a player, making 767 appearances and winning 25 major trophies.
