Gen V Season 2 Has No Plans To Recast Chance Perdomo's Andre

The producers of Gen V have made it clear they do not intend to recast Chance Perdomo’s role following his tragic passing. Serving as the first live-action spinoff of Prime Video’s hit show The Boys, Perdomo joined the cast for Gen V season 1 as Andre Anderson. A popular superpowered student gifted with the ability to manipulate magnetic fields, his character was among those falsely accused of perpetrating the Godolkin University massacre during the season 1 finale. Sadly, Perdomo was killed in a motorcycle accident this past March.

In a recent Instagram post, the official Gen V account released a statement from the show’s producers stating that they have no plans to cast a new actor in Perdomo’s place. Check out the original statement below:

Suggesting that “no one can replace Chance,” the statement says that instead, the show’s creative team has been taking the time they need to rework Gen V season 2’s storylines ahead of production resuming in May. In doing so, the producers hope to honor Perdomo’s memory and respect his ongoing legacy.

At just 27 years of age, Perdomo’s future as an actor was beginning to look increasingly bright. Also known for his tenure on Netflix’s The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina, Perdomo exuded a sense of charisma and instant likability that resonated well with characters like the warlock Ambrose Spellman and Gen V’s Andre Anderson. While his credits as an actor were not extensive, they were marked by several notable roles in properties with strong fanbases, and his role in Gen V only seemed destined to bolster his rising star power further.

Sadly, however, Perdomo’s promising career has now been cut tragically short, and the producers of Gen V now face the daunting task of continuing without him. While viewers will likely take a great deal of comfort in learning that Andre’s role will not be recast for season 2, it does leave numerous questions about how they will deal with his sudden absence. As one of Marie Moreau’s key allies, and one of her fellow captives in the Gen V season 1 finale, it is likely that season 2’s original plans would have continued to focus on Perdomo’s character as a central figure.

As such, the writers of Gen V season 2 will likely need to do far more than provide a suitable onscreen explanation for his sudden disappearance. Rather, many of the key story beats that would likely have been assigned to him as a lead character will also need to be reassigned to other characters in what will likely be a major overhaul of season 2’s story. Most importantly, however, it will also need to be done in a way that continues to honor the memory of their talented and beloved castmate.
