Gombe govt promises to restore water supply

Gombe State Commissioner of Water Resources, Mohammed Saidu Mohammed Fawu, has assured that everything is now in place as water is now being transported from the Dadinkowa treatment plant to the lower and upper zones in Gombe for onward distribution to the people at any moment.

The Commissioner was speaking about restoring normalcy in water supply to Gombe Metropolis and its environs.

He said, “Earlier on Saturday, at the instance of His Excellency, Governor Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, we were at the Dadinkowa treatment plant in the company of Ag, Dr Aminu Umar Yuguda, GM Water Board, JED Regional Manager, CGC team lead, and other officials for an ‘on the spot’ assessment of the emergency work.”

He added, And to encourage the technical team to fix the electrical faults that occurred as a result of the windstorm, which caused water supply disruption to Gombe Metropolis and environs.”

The technical team had earlier replaced all 31 broken-down electric poles, fixed the power cables, and restored the electricity supply to the water treatment plant, which enabled the production of millions of litres since Wednesday and pumping of the same earlier today to the public before another glitch halted the process, at least temporarily.

AG Aminu Yuguda, however, insisted that stop-gap measures must be taken and was reminded of the governor’s directive to ensure that the Malam Inna and Wuro Juli water projects become fully operational as soon as possible to guard against this type of ugly situation.

He then gave kudos to the combined team led by Commissioner Fawu for the tireless efforts and thanked the people of Gombe for the “understanding, solidarity, and generosity demonstrated,” as contained in a statement by Ismaila Uba Misilli, DG (Press Affairs).
