Former Superman actor Henry Cavill has been imagined as four MCU and DC Universe heroes in realistic fan art. British actor Henry Cavill garnered international attention after being cast as Clark Kent’s Superman in 2011 for the DCEU’s first project, 2013’s Man of Steel, a role that he played for ten years before James Gunn and Peter Safran announced plans to reboot the faltering franchise. Henry Cavill is now one of the most coveted names in Hollywood, which means his superhero career might not be over, as he could assume a different role in the MCU or the newly-rebooted DCU.

While there have been many rumors about which superhero roles Henry Cavill could take on in the future, one potential casting has become the most popular. Realistic new fan art shared by esheffects has imagined Henry Cavill as Brian Braddock’s Captain Britain in the MCU, as well as depicting the former Man of Steel as Batman, Captain America and Thor.

While it’s unlikely that Henry Cavill will become the DCU’s new Batman, the MCU’s Captain Britain seems like a very possible role, and Marvel Studios could even introduce him as a variant of one of the MCU’s most beloved heroes.

Will Henry Cavill Play Another Superhero Role After Superman?

Henry Cavill debuted as Clark Kent’s Superman in 2013’s Man of Steel, and quickly became many viewers’ quintessential version of the Kryptonian superhero. Unfortunately, Zack Snyder’s darker take on Superman didn’t sit well with some, and this altered direction for the iconic DC Comics character meant that Warner Bros. failed to utilize his skills correctly. This led to Superman being massively underused in the DCEU, with Henry Cavill’s later appearances being reduced to brief cameo appearances. Gunn and Safran will change this in the new DC Universe, as David Corenswet is expected to play a more comic-accurate Man of Steel.

While Henry Cavill won’t be returning as Superman in the DCU, it’s very possible he could assume a different superhero role. Cavill has the perfect physique for a live-action superhero, and has proven his ability to deliver drama, intensity, power and vulnerability throughout his portrayal of Clark Kent. It seems unlikely he’ll rejoin the DCU, but recent speculation suggests Cavill may be making the move to the MCU. Some have theorized that Henry Cavill could appear in Deadpool & Wolverine, perhaps as a variant of Wolverine, but there is more hope that he’ll take on a more crucial MCU role.

Brian Braddock’s Captain Britain has become the most popular fan-cast for Henry Cavill in the MCU. The actor himself has even stated in past interviews that he would love to portray Captain Britain, modernizing the character in the same way that Marvel Studios did for Steve Rogers’ Captain America. Captain Britain’s role in Marvel Comics’ Captain Britain Corps means the character would fit perfectly in the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. This hopefully suggests it won’t be too long before Henry Cavill is suiting up as a superhero once again, though he would likely be put to better use in the MCU.
