“I have had 7 nominations since inception, yet no win – Bovi laments over his AMVCA loss

Nigerian comedian and actor Bovi Ugboma has lamented over his AMVCA loss.

The comedian, who was nominated for the Best Writing TV series for his work on Visa On Arrival at the just concluded 10th edition of African Magic Viewers Choice Awards, lost to Mona Ombogo of Volume.

Taking to his Instagram page to lament, he noted how he has bagged 7 nominations since inception, with 4 being individual nominations, yet he hasn’t won any.

Despite this, he believed that before the 20th anniversary of AMVCA, he would have won 10 awards. Not holding any grudge, he congratulated all who won as he noted how they deserved it.

“amvca10
All my nominations since inception -7
Individual nominations- 4
Wins- 0
Expected wins before #amvca20 – 10
Congrats to all the winners from last night. Very deserving”.

Bovi isn’t the only one who has lamented over his AMVCA loss. Three-time box office record-breaking actress Funke Akindele, despite making a billion from her movie, A Tr!be Called Judah, didn’t win any award, nor got any acknowledgement or recognition from the organisers. Sharing a video of her dazzling outfit for the award night, Funke urged them to stay focused and positive.

Lateef Adedimeji, who lost his nomination for Best Lead Actor in Femi Adebayo’s movie Jagun Jagun, stated that despite his loss, he went home with many wins, good vibes, positive energy and accolades. He expressed how happy he was to see many rooting for him and described it as absolutely fulfilling. He went on to appreciate Africa Magic and the Jagun Jagun team.

Actor Ibrahim Yekini ‘Itele’s wife had consoled him as she noted how every win is a win for them. She stated that for him to be among the nominees definitely means he is doing something good. She went on to crown him her forever winner.
