JoJo Siwa Faces Backlash Over “Cringe” Choreography for ‘Karma’

JoJo Siwa Faces Backlash for “Cringe” Choreography in “Karma” Music Video

JoJo Siwa, known for her vibrant personality and dancing prowess, is receiving criticism for her choreography in her latest single, ‘Karma.’ Despite her years of experience as a dancer and performer, JoJo’s new choreography has sparked backlash from fans and critics alike.

On April 5, JoJo Siwa debuted her single ‘Karma,’ accompanied by a music video featuring choreography that some have described as “cringe” and “trash.” Despite warning her fans that her new phase might be “disturbing or offensive to some viewers,” JoJo’s dance moves and unconventional outfits have caused a stir among her once-devoted fan base.

Critics have not held back in expressing their opinions on JoJo’s choreography. YouTuber MoistCr1TiKaL criticized

her moves, comparing them to someone having a seizure and suggesting they could prompt a call to paramedics if attempted in a club setting. Viewers on social media echoed similar sentiments, describing JoJo Siwa’s dancing as convulsive and lacking in grace.

In addition to the criticism of her choreography, JoJo has faced allegations of copying TikToker Emeline’s beat for a song with the same name. Emeline had uploaded her version to TikTok in October 2022, predating JoJo’s release.

Furthermore, JoJo Siwa sparked controversy with her comments about wanting to create a new genre of music called “gap pop,” likening it to K-pop. Many critics pointed out that artists like David Bowie and Freddie Mercury had already established similar genres, undermining JoJo’s claim to influence in the genre.

Despite the backlash, JoJo Siwa appears undeterred and continues to promote her song and dance moves. However, the criticism highlights the challenges she faces as she transitions into a new phase of her career, one that may not align with the expectations of her fan base. As JoJo navigates this transition, she will likely need to address and respond to the feedback she receives from both fans and critics.
