"Sh*t Gets Even Crazier": Chucky Season 4 Teased By Stars

Chucky father-daughter co-stars Brad and Fiona Dourif have teased that if the hit horror-comedy is renewed for season 4, the story will get even crazier. The show, which premiered in 2021 on Syfy and USA Network, is a spinoff from the Child’s Play movie series, created by Don Mancini. Brad Dourif has starred as Chucky in all seven legacy movies, as well as the TV show, with Fiona Dourif appearing as Nica Pierce in Curse of Chucky, Cult of Chucky, and having a recurring role in the show.

In an interview with Showbiz Junkies, the Dourifs talked about the character of Nica, what the future could hold, and their hopes of returning for Chucky season 4. At the time of writing, season 4 has not been confirmed but the co-stars tease Nica’s story arc.

Fiona Dourif:
Nica is hell-bent on getting what she deserves and will do anything she can to right the wrongs of the universe. If season 4 comes, sh*t gets even crazier.

Brad Dourif:
I saw a shot when they were shooting of Fiona chasing after Tiffany, and it’s damn right scary. I don’t want that girl chasing me, man. It was pretty, pretty committed.

The pair also share Mancini has laid out the plan for season 4 to them, with Brad Dourif hyping it as “the best one yet by far.”

Brad Dourif:
Yes, he’s told us where it goes. You never know for absolute sure that we’ll be back but if it is, it’s going to be the best one yet by far.

Fiona Dourif:
It’s true, the pitch he told me on my birthday and I was howling in a restaurant it was so good. I don’t know for particular characters who will be back and what, but I know Chucky will be back. The season is so, so good. I hope we can do it.

What Direction Could Chucky Go In Season 4?

The Franchise Continually Reinvents Itself

Child’s Play has always been a franchise that reinvents itself, and for Chucky to have a long-term future, this approach will be needed again. Mancini was able to update the show for modern audiences, and include plenty of diverse themes and representative storylines, which have helped to keep the series fresh, modern, and relevant, and this bodes well for a Chucky season 4 renewal. It’s unclear what direction another season might take, but there are plenty of plot threads that could be explored in greater detail.

Mancini has already shown that he is a writer who is not afraid to try new things, and taking his beloved franchise in a new direction would not be entirely unexpected. And, while Chucky season 4 has not yet been confirmed, there is little doubt Mancini will have a wealth of plot ideas that could be used to develop a strong and layered story, that will also feed into the legacy of the franchise.

Given that Chucky season 3 has only just finished, it is not surprising that the show has not received a season 4 renal yet. It seems likely that if Chucky does return for another season (or several), both the Dourifs will be involved in some capacity, as legacy actors who have that long-running link to the franchise, and present fun opportunities to refer to earlier installments and connect better with audiences.
