Terrorists kill 24 persons, injure many in Katsina LGA

Daredevil terrorists have killed at least 24 persons and injured several others at Unguwan Sarkin Noma community, in Sabuwa Local Government Area of Katsina State.

The incident which occured on Friday evening, happened when the terrorists armed with automatic weapons, stormed the community in their numbers, ridijg on motorcycles.

It was learnt that hours before the attack, the terrorists had begun gathering themselves on the outskirts of the community, waiting for their number to increase, and convenient time to attack the community.

On sighting them, some of the community members were said to have alerted government and security agencies of their presence, but help didn’t come for them throughout period of the terrorists’ operation.

Chairman of the council area, Farouk Hayatu confirmed the incident to newsmen.

Hayatu said he had made several efforts to contact security operatives when the terrorists were sighted outskirts of the community, but to no avail.

He said 23 people lost their lives during the attack, and that one other victim who sustsined injuries, was later confirmed dead at the hospital.

He added that several other people in the community sustained injuries during attack.

The incident comes three months after terrorists attacked a wedding convy in the council area, killing three persons and abducted the bride and more than 50 wedding guests.

Most of the victims were however reportedly rescued during a recent operation by military and paramilitary operatives in the area.
