“We’re devastated,” Daniel Anjorin’s family speaks over murder of son in London

The family of Daniel Anjorin has broken the silence over the brutal stabbing of their son to death in in Hainault on last Tuesday.

According to the Metropolitan Police, Anjorin’s family issued a statement paying tribute to their son, and thanking the local community for their support at this most difficult of times.

They said: “We as a family are devastated by the loss of our beloved son Daniel.

“It is difficult for us at this time to process what has happened to him and that he will never come home. Daniel had left the house for school and then he was gone.

“Our children have lost their loving and precious brother and we have lost the most loved and amazing son. We would like to send our best wishes to the other victims of this unthinkable incident.

“We would also like to thank the local community for all of their support during this most difficult time. We ask that the media please respect our privacy and refrain from contacting us or our family.”

Meanwhile, the police have charged Marcus Aurelio Arduini Monzo with the murder of the 14-year-old Nigerian, Anjorin in Hainault.

The police said a further four people – including two police officers – were seriously injured, and Monzo has also been charged with two counts of attempted murder, two counts of grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary, and possession of a bladed article.

They said the families of all those affected have been informed.

Detective Chief Inspector Larry Smith, who is leading the investigation, said earlier: “This is an incredibly tragic incident that has resulted in a young boy losing his life and his family devastated. On behalf of the family, I would ask that their privacy is respected.”

He said this is a complex investigation due to the number of crime scenes, forensic evidence, hours of CCTV footage and witnesses they needed to speak to.

Smith stated that he knew that many people would want answers and that the police were working to provide them as soon as they could.

He added that he would also echo previous calls for patience as his officers carried out a painstaking investigation to deliver justice for Daniel, his family, those injured and the wider community.

According to him, the police had started to build a picture of what happened on Tuesday and thanked everyone who had come forward to share dashcam, doorbell and mobile phone footage with the police.
