He said in the last six days, the football competition was being played between the eight denearies that constitute the diocese which ended with the victory of Yola deneary and marked the end of activities marking the Cathederaticum.

“For the past six days, we have been having a sporting event in order to prepare for this day to conclude it. And today is what we called the day we celebrate our Cathederaticum which is your support to the see of the Bishop.

“We started by having football matches organized on deneary basis and this day we had a final between Jimeta deneary and Yola deneary which Yola deneary emerged the winner.

“Here at this mass, we have just finished the Cathederaticum the contributions for the sea of the Bishop in order to do one project or the other in the diocese but already the people know that all that we have contributed has been dedicated for the construction of the block of 90 rooms three storey building at the pastoral center.

“We are actually preparing for 2027 whereby all the Bishops of Nigeria will converge in Yola in order to have their second plenary. We are preparing for accomodation hoping that the building that we have started will be completed before 2027,” he said.

When asked to comment about the performance of the Tinubu led administration as it clocks one year in office on May 29, Mamza disclosed that the government has virtually achieved nothing.

“Our situation in Nigeria is becoming so pathetic. Things are becoming worst and worst day by day. Electricity is no longer there, you cannot imagine how prices of things go beyond the reach of the common man.

“People are hungry. There is no food to eat or water to drink because of the electricity issue. Transportation is costly, even salary is still the way it used to be in the past. People are suffering. Some people actually wonder how others survive. I will continue to appeal to the people to be patient. We believe with prayers things will be better,” he said.

He called on political class to have a change of heart towards the people urging them to enthrone accountability, good governance and transparent leadership saying that such attitude will be the only game changer that will lead to the transformation of the country.
