Young Sheldon Brings Back A Character After 3-Year Absence In Season 7 Episode 12 Clip

Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 clip reveals the return of a character who has been missing from the show for 3 years. With only four episodes left, CBS is running out of time to bring back all the prominent guest stars in the prequel who haven’t appeared in the show for a while. George’s confirmed funeral in the Young Sheldon finale offers a way to gather not just the Cooper extended family, but also everyone who is connected to the clan. However, ahead of that, Young Sheldon is bringing back one character who has ties to Sheldon.

Sheldon and Tam meet up in the same spot they used to hang out with before George and Mary’s son moved away from college at East Texas Tech. As it turns out, Tam has also graduated from high school, which makes him question his friend’s decision to spend time in the library in the Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 promo.

What To Expect From Tam’s Young Sheldon Season 7 Return

Tam’s Return Could Set Up His The Big Bang Theory Story.

Phuong’s return as Tam has already been previously confirmed by co-executive producer Steve Holland. That said, he was mum about the specific details of the character’s comeback, especially since he was just unceremoniously phased out from Young Sheldon after his last appearance in season 4 back in 2021. In terms of narrative, it somewhat made sense because Sheldon’s story was changing. Leaving Medford High School meant significantly fewer chances for them to hang out and be together. Based on the aforementioned clip, however, it does seem like they still saw each other, albeit off-screen.

Tam’s appearance in Young Sheldon season 7, episode 12 will likely be part of the show’s attempt to wrap up Sheldon’s story in Texas. As his first best friend, Tam was integral in the character’s early social experiences. He introduced the boy genius to comic books, which became a big obsession of his as he grew old. On top of that, Phuong’s final Young Sheldon arc could set up Tam’s The Big Bang Theory appearance. Per the canon, Sheldon harbored a grudge against his childhood friend because he refused to move to California with him.

Chances are that this will be Phuong’s final outing as Tam. After Young Sheldon, there are no other opportunities for him to re-appear. Despite Georgie and Mandy’s sequel series, titled Georgie and Mandy’s First Marriage, Tam doesn’t have any ties to either of those characters, making it odd for him to be involved. Considering this, The Big Bang Theory prequel must ensure that his final fate lines up with his story when he appeared in the nerd-centric sitcom.
