NCAA DG Najomo remains in acting capacity, Keyamo clarifiesl


Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, Festus Keyamo (SAN) said there is no controversy over the appointment of Acting Director General, Civil Aviation, Captain Chris Najomo in acting capacity.

He explained that Najomo’s appointment by Mr. President followed laid down Public Service Rules (PRS) when the elsewhere DG of the NCAA, Captain Musa Nuhu was suspended based on an on-going investigation by the Economic and Financial Crime Commission on allegations of corruption against him.

captain Najomo, an experienced pilot with over 4 decades experienced to his name was appointed by the President, Ahmed Bola Tinubu six months ago in acting capacity.

In an electronic statement made available to journalists, the Minister explained that the DG, CAA’s appointment followed “The Public Service Rules (PRS) which define employment relationship between employees in the Public Service and the Government in section 7: 020704(b) on Acting Appointment p

The rule stipulates “that the period of Acting appointment shall not exceed one year, but in exceptional circumstances may be extended for another year”.

Regarding, the Acting Director-General, Mr. Chris Najomo,who has been in office for only six months, the statement said “For the avoidance of doubt, the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu did not appoint Capt. Chris Najomo as Acting Director General of Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority on Six-Month tenure.
