Everything You Need To Know About Star Wars: The Acolyte

The Acolyte takes place in a part of the Star Wars timeline that has never been depicted in live-action before: the High Republic era. It’s set 100 years before Star Wars: Episode I – The Phantom Menace, meaning there’s a completely new cast of characters in The Acolyte. That setting also means that many parts of the galaxy far, far away are very different. The Jedi Order was in its prime at this time, and it was much more powerful and emblematic of its ideals than its prequel trilogy counterpart. The Galactic Republic was similarly more idealistic and powerful, which meant the galaxy enjoyed a relative peace.

Everything You Need To Know Before Watching Star Wars: The Acolyte

Star Wars’ next TV show, The Acolyte, will come to Disney+ on June 4. Here’s everything you need to know ahead of this epic Star Wars series.

That peace will be challenged in the show, though. The Sith were thought to be extinct during the High Republic, but The Acolyte has shown that was not the case, as a mysterious Sith Lord was been threatening the Jedi. That Sith Lord is at the heart of The Acolyte‘s mystery, which will feature its central characters investigating a rash of Jedi killings. Amandla Stenberg’s character Mae is another focal point of the show, as she has ties to both the dark and light sides of the Force.

Perhaps the most important part of The Acolyte is what topics and themes it will explore. Through several interviews and characters, it has become clear that this show will investigate the power balance between the Jedi and Sith, and question whether the Jedi deserve to be the most prominent Force users in the galaxy. It’s an incredibly intriguing angle to take that will likely paint Star Wars in a whole new light. How exactly it accomplishes those goals will now be revealed, since The Acolyte has finally begun streaming.
