A Federal High Court in Abuja has granted bail to former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman, in the sum of N10bn with two sureties in like sum.
The court, in a ruling delivered by Justice James Omotosho, held that the sureties must be owners of landed properties within the Federal Capital Territory with a minimum valuation of N750m.
In addition, the sureties are required to submit their three-year tax clearance certificates and depose an affidavit of means. The defendant and sureties must also submit certified copies of their bank statements with recent passport photographs.
Alternatively, the sureties can submit a bank guarantee or bond in the sum of N10bn.
The court also ordered the defendant to surrender his international passport to the court’s registrar, who must verify all documents before his release from custody.
Justice Omotosho ordered that the defendant remain in prison custody until all bail conditions are met. The case was adjourned until September 25, 2024, for further hearing.
The development follows allegations of corruption and abuse of office against the former minister, who served under President Muhammadu Buhari’s administration, as earlier reported by THE WHISTLER.
