Driver Breaks Legs As Two Trucks Collide In Lagos
A driver has suffered broken legs following a head-on collision between two trucks around Ajegunle Bus-stop, inward Toll-gate area of Lagos State.
Two others also sustained serious head injuries in the accident.
It was gathered that one of the trucks lost control, leading to the collision.
The victims, who were rescued by the operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA), have been rushed to a nearby hospital.
Confirming the accident, the spokesperson of LASTMA, Adebayo Taofiq, attributed the cause of the accident to brake failure.
“Immediate investigations revealed that one of the trucks, driving against traffic at high speed, lost control due to brake failure and collided with the oncoming truck fully loaded with floor tiles,” he said in a statement.
Meanwhile, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Transportation, Sola Giwa, has urged drivers to avoid speeding and to check the condition of their vehicles, especially during the rainy season, before driving within and outside the state.
He also expressed his sympathies to those injured in the accident.
On Monday, THE WHISTLER reported how a driver of a mini truck sustained injuries along with his assistant after colliding with two Mazda buses, in an accident that occurred near Adeniji inward Sura.
The mini truck had lost control due to brake failure.
